Career Guidance
Over the past month we have been discussing the subject of Career Planning for Young People with blogs on Making Smart Life Choices for the First Time, You Don’t Need to Know What you Want & Life Skills. For those of you who have been following the series you may have started to note down some things that are helping you to make smarter choices for the future. Perhaps, if you have followed some of the advice in ‘Life Skills’ you have started to get to know yourself better.
However, what if you are still confused and don’t know where to turn to for help? Then don’t worry, help is at hand.
Why should you talk to a Career Guidance Advisor or a Mentor like C&E HR Consultancy?
- Impartial Advice – we take your feelings, hopes, thoughts into consideration without being influenced wholly by parents and teachers;
- Knowledge of the Labour Market – knowing what is happening in the world of work can make a massive difference in helping people to choose their career paths;
- Experience – both personal and professional which gives us infinite insight into what you are experiencing at this time;
- Shining Light – we are able to put the right treads in place to help shine a light on the pathway you should be taking;
- Contacts – we have contacts in the world of work, education and elsewhere which can help with making sure you get the right guidance as and when you require it.
How does it work?
- Firstly, we will undertake a free consultation to understand your current situation, timelines, issues and needs;
- After consultation we design a programme to suit your needs – this could be just one session, or it could be a 3 month long mentoring scheme;
- These sessions usually take place every 2 weeks with homework tasks to complete in between which will help you get to know yourself better each time;
- At the end of the programme you will have a 5-year plan of both short- and long-term goals to achieve and a detailed understanding of how to do this.
Here are a couple of reviews from the higher-level mentoring programme to give you some indication of what people can get out of this:
“The Mentoring Programme has given me clarity of where I want to be and what I want to achieve within the next 5 years. I now have tools I can implement to reduce stress and improve my work/life balance. This programme has been beneficial in changing my mindset, giving me the resources I need to be more productive and find solutions to problems which have caused me stress for months."

"The Mentoring Programme has given me a new perspective on myself and the much-needed boost I have required for some time. Using the tools from the programme has really opened my eyes. I am now able to plan a future ahead of me which is measurable and realistic. Having achieved so many short-term goals already I feel more confident than ever that I can reach my future goals."
